Our Investment Process
Strong investment returns are a key ingredient in achieving your financial objectives. Nobody can offer the guarantee of constant positive investment performance - this would be an unrealistic expectation. What we can offer is a clearly defined, structured process that aims to provide the sort of long term returns that you are looking for. Our six-stage process is as follows:
is to agree on your personal requirements. In addition we will discuss how much of the portfolio you would prefer to retain in Cash Deposits.
is the Risk Analysis. This helps us understand your acceptance of investment risk and make the correct recommendations for your portfolio.
is deciding on the strategic asset allocation that matches your requirements. Alternative Strategies can be included within the portfolio, if required.
is where we select the funds for you to invest in. A rigorous and thorough screening process is applied to identify, what we think, are the highest quality funds in each sector. As genuinely independent advisers, we select from the entire fund management ‘universe'. If your preference is for low cost, ‘passive' investment (index tracking), this can be confirmed at this stage.
is applying our Dynamic Tax Planning for your portfolio. This is often completely overlooked but holding investments in the wrong tax wrappers can severely affect the eventual returns. We place a major emphasis here and it is crucial that your tax allowances are used each year. Please refer to the Tax Planning page of our website.
is the review service. It is essential that your portfolio is carefully checked and re-balanced on at least an annual basis to ensure that everything remains firmly 'on track'.
In keeping with our bespoke approach, our process is genuinely flexible. Your personal preferences are very easily incorporated. Working with James Murray Associates provides a real structure for your investment portfolio.
"I have been a client of JMA for over 10 years and joined them on the basis of a recommendation from my Accountant. I have not regretted it. I have found their advice to be independent of third party interests and well tailored to my circumstances. I have a high regard for their timely response to the questions I ask, however trivial they might be. I have found their knowledge of pension legislation and their willingness and patience to explain it me, reassuring. They can no more predict the future than anyone else but their perception of trends and knowledge of past performance is something I have grown to trust. I have found their approach to charges open and fair."
